Botulinum Toxin has gained immense popularity as a non-surgical, injectable treatment primarily used to erase facial lines and wrinkles.
It stands out as one of the most sought-after cosmetic procedures worldwide, with over 7 million treatments administered in the past year alone.
For those venturing into Botox treatment for the first time, it's quite natural to harbor reservations regarding cosmetic injections. To alleviate your concerns, we've compiled answers to the most commonly asked questions about Botox. At Aesthetics Collective we use a purified, organic form of botox named Xeomin®
Which areas can XEOMIN® address?
For cosmetic purposes, Xeomin® can be employed to smooth out lines and wrinkles on the forehead, frown, and around the eyes (crow's feet). In specific cases, we may utilise Xeomin® to treat medical conditions such as hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating, migraines and tension headaches.
How does XEOMIN® function?
Xeomin® is a neurotoxin (a variant of botulinum toxin type A) injected into specific treatment areas using an ultra-fine needle. Xeomin® operates by blocking nerve signals, preventing muscles in select facial areas from contracting, thus maintaining smooth, wrinkle-free skin.
Is XEOMIN® painful?
Xeomin® treatments are swift and generally not associated with significant pain. Most patients report minimal discomfort during the injection process, and this discomfort subsides after the procedure is completed. Since Xeomin® treatment requires neither anesthesia nor recovery time, some patients conveniently schedule appointments during their lunch break and return to work immediately afterward.
When will I notice the results?
Results may vary among individuals, but typically, most people begin observing gradual changes 3 to 7 days after the injections. For some, it may take up to 2 weeks to witness the full effects.
How long will my XEOMIN® results last?
The longevity of Xeomin® results varies from person to person but usually falls within the 3 to 6-month range. Factors influencing duration include the injection site, the quantity used, age, skin elasticity, and wrinkle depth. Regular use of Xeomin® can potentially extend the results over time by minimising muscle use.
When should I consider starting XEOMIN®?
The ideal time to commence Xeomin® treatment varies. Some individuals opt for it as a preventive measure at the first appearance of lines and wrinkles, while others wait until these expression lines become more pronounced. To determine if Xeomin® is right for you, it's advisable to schedule a consultation with a licensed professional.
Is XEOMIN® safe?
Xeomin® holds FDA approval as a safe treatment for reversing lines and wrinkles. However, pregnant or breastfeeding individuals and those with specific neurological conditions should refrain from Xeomin® treatments.
Are there any potential side effects?
As with any medical or cosmetic procedure, there is a possibility of side effects. Some patients might experience bruising, swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection site. These side effects usually resolve on their own within a few days to a week after the Xeomin® treatment. It is highly important to have a thorough consultation discussing the risks and benefits with your cosmetic injector prior to going through with any treatment.
Are there any preparations needed before XEOMIN®?
Your provider might recommend avoiding alcohol and discontinuing certain medications or supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, Gingko Biloba, or Ginseng in the week leading up to your treatment. These substances are known to thin the blood, reducing the risk of potential side effects mentioned earlier.
